Queen Anne Style Mansion Wedding

Jessa + Paul

Historical venues always have a special place in my heart. I was so happy to get a message from Jessa and Paul to photograph their wedding at the historic Newhall Mansion in Piru, California. Built in 1886, the impressive home is in the beloved Queen Anne style and sits as a grand relic of the past in Ventura County. It is a registered historic landmark and open year round for weddings and overnight retreats.

This couple had friends and family travel from all over to enjoy the festivities and to celebrate the love + union of these two. The bride is from Hawaii and has strong Croatian roots. The two added lots of little touches paying homage to their heritage including a flower crown brought over from the islands, ukulele tunes, and bread made with family traditions for the dinner.

We did the first look out on the balcony followed by some portraits around the grounds. The ceremony took place on the back lawn with the cocktail hour in the front of the home and a grand reception to follow in the back. Weddings in historic venues give guests a chance to admire these beautiful properties and see them up close. They also provide a unique and beautiful backdrop for the entire day, blending stories of old and new.

Hope you enjoy just a few of my favorites from this couple’s gorgeous day at the Newhall Mansion in Piru:
