When I started shooting weddings one of my big goals was to finds to photograph couples all around the world. Maybe you know, maybe you do not know that I spent my first summer really learning photography in Paris. I took out some craigslist ads and practiced shooting couples and families in the city [Craigslist was much less creepy in France and must of my clients were American!]. Even early on, I wanted to build a small portfolio of my work abroad. I continued to gain a little bit of traction and kept growing. Who doesn’t love a good chateau wedding?
I’m always a bit surprised at how far the reach of the internet goes and how I continue to get work abroad. It is my favorite thing.
This leads me to this most special couple who found me online. Aly + James live in London and were planning a big wine country wedding in Sonoma when they came across some of my photos online. We did a video call and connected right away on many things but quite deeply on musical theatre! Ha! I’m not joking at all 🙂
My travel schedule aligned and I was able to do a quick stop at their home for engagement photos. The two live in historic Wapping Court and we kept it easy with just a stroll around their neighborhood. London is a city that embraces its past and builds upon it. Perhaps it was the jetlag but this neighborhood was just a dream to shoot and these two made it easy.
Our small route took us to a spot on the River Thames. I was expecting cloudy, rainy skies but this afternoon adventure provided the perfect bit of sunlight. Hope you enjoy just a few of my favorites here. Shot entirely on my Leica M240. See Aly & James’ full Wedding here.
