Indian Fusion Wedding in Berkeley

Anjali & Vlad

I have always dreamed of photographing an Indian Wedding. Something about the myriad of colors, the intricacy of their rituals and general grand scale of it all. The whole idea has a longtime bewildered me. I was so very excited when Anajli and Vlad reached out to me to photograph their wedding.

Vlad + Anjali met in San Francisco on a walk group they were part of. The two bonded so quickly that they decided to see the solar eclipse within a few weeks of knowing each other. From that trip their relationship quickly started to grow into something more.

For their engagement photos we did sunrise at Baker Beach and on the Golden Gate Bridge. Growing up in London, Anajli was certainly used to bridges and always had a vision of romantic photograph on this west coast institution. We got it!

Their wedding was spread out over three days and I got to take part in all the events. Getting to know their family members and close friends from all over the world was indeed a treat. I’m adding a little bit of everything into this blog post so you can see the full spectrum our my time with these two.

The mendhi party was particularly fun as it was my very first time doing henna! I did a fox design, casually. The couple hosted some traditional Indian day before ceremonies at their apartment including the turmeric painting. The actually wedding day was the big event. Getting ready was at the Doubletree Hilton Marina and the rest of the day took place at the Brazilian Room in Tilden Park.

The couple did an Indian ceremony followed by a western one closer to sunset. It made for such a complete and wonderful day. This was one of my favorite weddings this year and I hope you enjoy a few of my favorites:
