Brittny + Lawrence were the first couple to get married a the Santa Monica Proper Hotel. The evening before the held their welcome dinner at Shutters on the Beach and I was so happy they asked me to capture it as part of their wedding weekend.
Welcome or Rehearsal Dinners, I think, are one of the most overlooked aspects of a wedding. The welcome dinner usually consists of close friends, bridal party and family in preparation for the wedding day. Sometimes this is the first time family members meet. It’s common to go through the ceremony rehearsal but sometimes, like this event, it’s just about fellowship, speeches and special religious ceremonies preparing the families for the wedding day ahead.
I love doing welcome dinners because I am able to familiarize myself with family members, officiants and close friends of the couple. I then can easily spot them out and make sure I document them on the wedding day. I also like how complete the wedding album feels when I can present all of the captured moments from their weekend.
