I first met Brittny and Lawrence at the Farmer’s Market in Brentwood. We talked got to know each other while shopping for apples and getting organic street tacos.
Despite having such interesting careers in a range of professions and livings in so many places, these two are chill. The two actually met, fell in love, got pregnant, engaged and now married all in the course of a year.
Their Wedding Day was at the Proper Hotel in Santa Monica. Actually the very first wedding ever shot on the property. In case you aren’t familiar, the Proper Hotel chain is a luxury resort designed by Kelly Wearstler.
Brittny + Lawrence got ready together in one of the corner suites and did a mini-first look up on the lush rooftop terrace. The Southern California winter rain was eminent most of the day so we did family shots and spent the rest of the day inside. The Proper has something interesting to look at from every turn. Kelly Wearstler’s design celebrates a ‘looser kind of luxury’ culture and it made for a refined + soothing backdrop.
Brittny’s details included lots and lots and lots of baby’s breath and feathers. The day was about connection, about appreciation for the moments and love. The couple got ready together but we did a mini first look up on the rooftop, overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
They did a traditional Jewish ceremony in the round under a cedar bark chuppah decorated with baby’s breath. Lawrence got a little antsy waiting for the bride so walked out of the ceremony to properly escort her in. It made for a really sweet moment. Dinner was set up in the Ballroom and catering by the hotel with locally sourced produce. Table settings were topped, again, with beautiful bushels of baby’s breath. A series of emotional toasts and speeches carried us to dancing.
The couple had their first dance ‘Into the Mystic’ sung by Van Morrison’s daughter, Shana, in a special performance.
Dessert was an impressive spread by the Messy Table and the night was full of fellowship and dancing. Lawrence did a surprise performance for his new bride and brought the house down.
