Courtney and Brett, like so many couples this year, had to adjust their original wedding plans. The pandemic hit right as we were about to shoot their engagement session. The stay at home order in California kept us from shooting.
We stayed in touch throughout the summer and worked to think of a way to still have a meaningful and beautiful wedding day in midst of covid-19.
In mid September the two opted for an intimate ceremony at Malibu Creek State park with a dozen of their family members. I met them at their cute, beachy apartment for some getting ready photos. The two did notes of encouragement to each other and a first look before a video call with friends.
We traveled out to the park where the ceremony took place under two large oak trees in the valley. A good friend officiated and family members watched while practicing social distancing.
After the ceremony the three of us continued with some portraits in the tall grass before continuing to El Matador State Beach for sunset. This was a day of adventuring and I was so happy to capture it. Below are some of my favorites.
